If you do, head down to Chinatown, not the MRT, it's somewhere the the food center and the "Geitai" stage and you will see an extremely long queue.
What are they queueing for?
Well, you can exchange your NETS receipt of $88 or more for an SMRT New Year card with a $5 deposit inside.
This means that whenever you top up, you can use the card immediately without having to pay any deposit or whatsoever.
Great deal isn't it?
Well, if you are interested, head down to Chinatown but avoid the weekends because the queue is mad long!
