Park Ye Jin is a “Cold City Woman” for Vogue



Park Ye Jin, who is currently acting in MBC’s “My Princess,” shows off her “Cold City Woman” with a change of her makeup.
For Vogue’s February version of Bobbi Brown’s makeup, Park Ye Jin took pictures with a variety of makeup, successfully capturing the concept of “Irresistible Attraction.”
Park Ye Jin first showed her loveliness by wearing  a black dress with minimal design and an orange-colored lipstick. She then showed her chicness by wearing a gold mini-dress and a light pink lipstick.
Park Ye Jin also displayed her beauty by wearing a geometric yet modern dress with a strong hot pink lipstick. Following that cut was a leopard pattern dress with pink lipstick.
Despite her busy schedule, Park Ye Jin was able to show off dramatic feeling with every change of makeup and clothes, receiving praise from the staff members who were present.

The Cowardly Lion’s Guide to Conquering Your Entrepreneurial Fears


Ever feel like you’re a little bit of a … coward?
No, you’re not spending your days hiding, running, and weeping, but you haven’t exactly lived up to your expectations, either.
Your blog isn’t getting nearly as much traffic as you thought it would. You still haven’t finished that product you intend to sell. In fact, months or years have gone by, and you haven’t made much progress at all. You’re beginning to wonder if you ever will.
You could rattle off a dozen reasons as to why, and most of them even sound pretty reasonable, but down deep, you know there’s only one thing really holding you back:
You’re afraid.
You’re afraid of telling your family and friends to leave you alone so you can work.
You’re afraid of creating a product no one will want to buy.
You’re afraid of quitting your job and watching the bills piling up and having everyone look at you like a failure.
And secretly, you’re ashamed.


You know entrepreneurs are supposed to be big and bold, laughing in the face of danger and persisting even when the whole world has turned against them. You know you have to take risks. You know you’ll never be in control of your life until you can get some time away from your friends and family and job and start working on what’s important to you.
Yet, you can’t seem to make yourself do it. You’ve been trying for so long that you’re even beginning to wonder if you’re not cut out to be an entrepreneur.
But it’s not true. To prove it to you, I’d like to take you back all the way to 1939 and reintroduce you to an unlikely hero you might have forgotten.

The Cowardly Lion

In the classic film The Wizard of Oz, the Cowardly Lion is … well … a coward.
He’s so afraid of everything that he can’t sleep. He cries when Dorothy slaps his nose. He runs for his life when the Wizard gets angry.
And he’s ashamed of it. So ashamed, in fact, that he can’t believe Dorothy and her companions would even allow him to travel with them.
Most struggling entrepreneurs have exactly the same problems. They can’t sleep, they’re terrible at conflict management, and they get really skittish around authority figures.
When they fail, they move to a different city, switch careers, and sometimes even abandon their family, all because they can’t stand to have anyone look at them.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. The Cowardly Lion was able to overcome his fears, and so can you. You don’t even need The Great and Powerful Oz to give it to you.

How to conquer your fears

In the film, the Wizard hands the Cowardly Lion a medal and tells him he has just as much courage as any hero, giving the Lion’s story a sweet and satisfying ending.
The lesson is that courage isn’t about acting in the absence of fear; it’s about acting despite it.
That’s profound, but it also leaves a big question unanswered: how do you convince yourself to act when you’re scared to death?
Well, let’s take a look at the story.
1. Get disgusted with yourself. When The Cowardly Lion comes across Dorothy and her friends in the woods, he’s so overcome with shame that he can’t stop weeping. He desperately wants to be courageous, and that desperation propels him to go see the Wizard of Oz.
It’s counterintuitive, but for most of us, that’s the way motivation works. If you want to do big things, stop waiting for a time when everything is perfect, and you feel comfortable. It’ll never happen. You’re far better off thinking about how crappy your situation is, getting genuinely frustrated with yourself, and then using that emotion to push yourself to make changes. Misery is a useful tool. Use it.
2. Find a mentor. The Wizard Of Oz could have given The Cowardly Lion a medal for courage the first time he came to see him, but he didn’t.
Instead, he gave him a quest, a chance to grow and to prove himself and to ultimately discover that he always had what he was looking for. That’s what good mentors do. They don’t actually give us anything; they merely guide us through discovering it for ourselves. And that’s indispensable.
3. Test your assumptions. By going on a quest to retrieve the Wicked Witch’s broomstick, The Cowardly Lion challenged his assumption that he was a coward, and he ended up proving himself wrong.
That’s what we all have to do. One of the greatest lessons from cognitive psychology is you can’t trust your own thoughts. When we’re depressed, we all become negatively biased, believing the way we see things is the way things are, and that’s not usually true. If you challenge your assumptions, you’ll usually find out things aren’t nearly so bleak as you think they are, and you can do a lot more than you think you can.
That little voice in your head is not, as it turns out, all-knowing. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
4. Fight for someone else. The Cowardly Lion would rather have run than try to protect himself, but when Dorothy was kidnapped by the Wicked Witch of the West, he stormed a castle of winged monkeys to save her.
Most of us are this way. We’ll fight 10 times harder to avoid letting our friends down than we will to avoid letting ourselves down. So why not harness it?
If you look into the past of almost any successful entrepreneur, you’ll find they had partners pushing them, depending on them, and cheering for them. It’s a perpetual source of motivation, and you can draw on it to do things you would’ve thought yourself incapable of doing.
5. Remind yourself of successes. When The Cowardly Lion returned triumphant, the Wizard gave him a medal for courage to remind him that he’s a hero.
Most people aren’t aware of this, but in the novels following the original The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz book, The Cowardly Lion continued doing brave deeds, and he continued to be afraid, but he reminded himself of his successes and continued anyway.
One of the best ways to build your own self-confidence is to keep a journal of your own victories over fear and to regularly reread them to give yourself courage. We all tend to get fixated on our failures, but having a record of your successes is a good way to keep yourself positive.

The sad truth about entrepreneurship

The fear never goes away.
You just get better at dealing with it.
I was just as afraid when I started my fifth company as I was when I started my first one. In fact, I was probably more afraid, because I understood how truly difficult it is to build a business from scratch.
But it didn’t stop me, and really, I think that’s what defines people we call heroes. They’re just as afraid as anyone else, but they keep going anyway.
They’re willing to lie in bed, sweating and worrying about how they’ll pay the bills.
They’re willing to do the unpopular thing and for everyone to think they’re an ass.
They’re willing to invest years of their life into a product, only to see it flop and have to start over again.
It’s not because they’re special. They just know the price, and they’re willing to pay it.
And really, that’s the secret. So many people I see trying to build businesses online invest all of their mental energy into SEO or the fine points of pay-per-click, or even writing killer content.

But all of those tactics will fail if you don’t have the right mindset

Mindset is what lets you turn tactics into an actual thriving business. It’s what lets you pay the price, to act when you’re scared out of your pants.
And you have to proactively create it. If you hang around successful people, you’ll notice they go to a lot of seminars, listen to a lot of motivational material, and surround themselves with other successful business people trying to do the same things.
It’s not a coincidence. They understand the value of mindset, and they set aside time every day to work on that mindset, to put themselves into the proper frame of mind to stand up and fight.
Because at heart, we’re all cowardly lions. Everyday, we have to wake up and remind ourselves how to roar.

I have always liked Sam Cooke's old hit song, "Chain Gang." It comes in handy when I'm talking about customer service. That's because delivering good customer service requires frontline workers to receive support from co-workers -- in effect, a chain reaction of teamwork that is consistent from beginning to end. And the chain of assistance is only as strong as its weakest link. I love hearing reports of good care, especially when they're shared by a Virgin customer. But no matter what the source, there's usually a lesson to be learned. To prove I'm not always bashing our competitor, British Airways, I'll tell a consummate customer story that involves that other British airline: An Executive Club passenger left his leather coat in the airport lounge. He rushed to the front of the plane and asked if he could get it. "Sorry, sir, too late," replied a member of the cabin crew. "But don't worry. I'll tell the ground crew and they'll have it sent to you." He was convinced he'd never see his favorite coat again. Seven and a half hours later, when the flight arrived in New York, an agent met him at the door of the aircraft with his coat.





They'd put it on a Concorde flight that beat his slower 747 across the Atlantic! (Of course, B
ritish Airways can no longer pull off that trick, since the Concorde is no longer in service.) The airline could have put the coat on a later flight and the customer would have been just as grateful. But going the extra mile
builds massive customer loyalty and brand enhancing benefits. You can be sure that passenger talked up the airline for years, and now even the founder of a rival company is telling the tale. How great is that?

Insensitive

Went out yesterday


To support one of my friends, Andy for his concert at Victoria Junior College. He was the president which is pretty impressive as he passed flowers to the guest of honor at the end.


Then, we went down to vivocity for a late night movie. We watched this movie called Shaolin Shi.


Pretty nice but towards the end, the storyline got a little bumpy and the essence of the it got lost along the way. Pretty sad, I guess the writer got carried away somewhat.


Do go watch it though because overall, its still a fantastic movie.


One of my friend joined us only for the movie at midnight and he didn't do so well for his first semester and he said that he's very emo.


But I think that's okay but what's not okay is that he starts to say that we did well because our modules are easier and so on and so forth.


He even told my other friend that FASS is easier man. And that Macroeconomics is easy, like maths only, wait till he come over to NBS.


I thought that was pretty impulsive and insensitive of him to say that kind of things. Every faculty has their own difficulties and there's simple no basis for comparison. It is not fair to say that other people's modules are easier when you yourself did not take it in the first place.


On top of that, does it comfort you to criticise people that way? At the end of the day, the harsh truth is that they are still better than you. That's a fact.


I'm quite sad for him. Standing at Age 22, he's still so immature and insensitive to other people's needs and feelings. He still continue to talk without thinking through his head first. Always expecting the others to tolerate him and pamper him.


We might be able to do that for now. But in the long run, it is him that will suffer especially when he goes out to the workforce.


Another thing is that he has a lot of hot air. I remembered that after the A levels, he didn't do so well and he was so agitated. He vowed to study for University and swear to get good grades. In the end, he didn't even put in much effort. Now, after he screwed up the first semester in University, he once again says impulsives things like he will not continue to stay in the hall, he will leave it there to rot. He will study and do tutorials one week in advance and he vow to get As this time round.


Again, a lot of hot air. Lots of form, but clearly there's no substance.


He's merely rampaging through his way like a mindless animal without any clear strategies. All talk, no action that is.


Well, let's see how Semester 2 turns out for him. He better buck up or else he has only himself to blame at the end of the day

In another study done by Tversky and Kahneman, subjects were given the following problem:
"A cab was involved in a hit and run accident at night. Two cab companies, the Green and the Blue, operate in the city. 85% of the cabs in the city are Green and 15% are Blue.
A witness identified the cab as Blue. The court tested the reliability of the witness under the same circumstances that existed on the night of the accident and concluded that the witness correctly identified each one of the two colors 80% of the time and failed 20% of the time.
What is the probability that the cab involved in the accident was Blue rather than Green knowing that this witness identified it as Blue?"
Most subjects gave probabilities over 50%, and some gave answers over 80%. The correct answer, found using Bayes' theorem, is lower than these estimates:
  • There is a 12% chance (15% times 80%) of the witness correctly identifying a blue cab.
  • There is a 17% chance (85% times 20%) of the witness incorrectly identifying a green cab as blue.
  • There is therefore a 29% chance (12% plus 17%) the witness will identify the cab as blue.
  • This results in a 41% chance (12% divided by 29%) that the cab identified as blue is actually blue.

Steve Jobs on Sabbatical Leave

A day after Jobs announced he was taking an indefinite leave of absence for medical reasons, Apple reported its record net profit as revenue soared to an unprecedented $26.74 billion in the quarter ending December 31.
The Cupertino, California-based company said it sold 7.33 million iPad tablet computers and 16.24 million iPhones.
"We had a phenomenal holiday quarter with record Mac, iPhone and iPad sales," Jobs said in a statement accompanying the earnings report.

"We are firing on all cylinders and we've got some exciting things in the pipeline for this year including iPhone 4 on Verizon, which customers can't wait to get their hands on."
He chose Monday, a US holiday on which stock markets were closed, to announce that he was turning the Apple helm over to chief operating officer Timothy Cook.
Jobs will keep his chief executive title and participate in "major strategic decisions" at Apple.
Apple shares fell Tuesday as concerns for Jobs health raised questions about the company's future.
Record high quarterly earnings figures and assurances by Cook that the company saw boom times ahead with its coveted gadgets helped the stock recover some ground.
Apple shares rose slightly more than a percent to $344.90 a share in trading that followed the earnings release but remained down in price for the day, after closing at a record high of $348.48 in New York on Friday.
The company is "working around the clock" to increase the supply of its hot-selling iPhones, and has already seen more than 80 percent of major companies begin letting workers use iPad tablet computers for business, Cook said.



I must applaud Steve Jobs for the perfect timing for his departure.

Firstly, he chose to leave on the day where US is having their holiday and when the stock market is closed. This prevents any speculations from going around and damaging Apple's reputation. Usually, such repercussions are hard to save. But Steve Jobs probably had already predicted what's going to happen so that's probably why he chose to leave on a holiday.

Right after that, the earnings for the 4th quarter last year was released and once again, it reached an unprecedented record, thus boosting the investors' confidence once again.


But the question is, how long can this confidence be sustained? Not for long I would say.

Perhaps for 1 quarter?

Typically, the sales for the first quarter is usually not the highest as compared to the 4th quarter. So naturally, the earnings for this quarter would for sure be lower.

So how would the public perceive it? Most probably, they will accuse Apple of bad management and that without Steve Jobs, they can't earn them money. But the truth is, its just a bad quarter in the first place. There's simple no basis of comparison.

But the public, being, well the public. They would not tolerate the drop in earnings and would end up selling Apple's shares because they feel that they magic is lost without Jobs' presence.


At the end of the day, the public are now so mesmerized with Jobs that without him, there would be no Apple. Hence, unless the management and executives can create another revolutionary product without the help of Steve Jobs, Apple is probably going downslope after Steve Jobs inevitable departure in the future.



Now, what Apple has to do is to take the risk and go for a product that will astonish the world. While it is important to maintain and sustain their current achievements, I believe it is more important to take the precarious move and show the world, prove to them that Apple is not nothing without Steve Jobs. That's probably the most important thing on hand now, at least if we look at the long run.


Here are some shots off the Versace Resort look book with model Ginta Lapina. In my opinion, the collection is vibrant, colorful, sleek and a sexy women’s collection. There was a vibrant early sixties sex-bomb pulse to many of the looks, but it still has a strong tie with the previous season collection. The clothes had a sleek, kittenish spirit and suited Edie Sedgwick perfectly. Donnatella definitely wanted to make it a young collection: with the use off vibrant colors, designed provocative mini skirts and clinging dresses. But it all comes together in an elegant, classy way.  

The shoes from the collection were the most intricate part of the collection: colours, patterns and different designs caught the eye and added even more colour to the already vibrant outfits. It all came together in a show with lots of eyecatching pieces.

Toyota Drums out Differences

Employees at Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A are drumming their way to a common bond and cooperation. Over the past three years, more than 3,000 Toyota employees have visited the automaker's training center (University of Toyota) in Torrance, California, to participate in drum circles. Typically in groups of 15 to 50 from one department, employees begin bangnig on one of the 150 percussion instruments available in the drum room. Few have played a percussion instrument before, so the first attempt rarely is worth recording.



"At first it sounds pretty terrible, with everyone competing to be the loudest," admits Ron Johnson, Toyota's resident drum guru and a training center manager in Torrance. But most groups soon find a common beat without any guidance or conductor. Johnson recalls his first drum circle experience: "I'll never forget the spirit that came alive inside me. In a matter of moments, perfect strangers came together in synchronistic rhythm to share a common vision." By the end of the hourlong event most groups have formed a special bond that apparently increases their cooperation and sense of unity when they return to their jobs.
