Famous Deserts

2am: dessertbar
21A Lorong Liput Holland Village, 6291‑9727. Open Mon‑Sat 4pm‑2am

Helmed by pâtissier Janice Wong, this charming dessert lounge is fabulous for hanging out with friends or a tête-à-tête with that special someone. Go with an open mind and brace yourself for innovative creations, with an emphasis on wine pairings. We're in love with the Araguani H2O-a divine composition of 72 percent Valrhona chocolate, Evian water, caramel mousse and a yuzu sorbet. For a slightly different take on chocolate, have their Basil White Chocolate with passion fruit puff, shiso and sea grapes. The fact that they're open till two in the morning is merely the very sweet icing on the cake.

COVA Pasticceria‑Confetteria #01‑20A Paragon Shopping Centre, 290 Orchard Rd., 6733‑0777. Open daily 9am‑9:30pm
Like the famous establishment in Milan, this elegant café is perfect for a chi‑chi afternoon tea. Pick from an impressive array of freshly baked pastries, cakes and cookies. The Imperial afternoon tea set consists of the chef's selection of sweets, served with coffee or tea. Their Sacher is legendary - a chocolate sponge cake layered with homemade apricot marmalade and a dark chocolate glaze.

Laurent's Café & Chocolate Bar#01‑11 The Pier at Robertson Quay, 80 Mohamed Sultan Rd., 6235‑9007. Open Mon 6‑11pm; Tue‑Thu 1pm‑midnight; Fri‑Sat 1pm‑1am; Sun 1pm‑11pm
French chocolatier Laurent Bernard brings his passion for quality cocoa creations to a second outlet on Portsdown Road.
We like the walk-in fridge where various sinful treats are displayed. Their crispy chocolate tart is a must. Made with a crunchy tart base, the dessert is smothered with a velvety smooth dark chocolate ganache, topped with a quenelle of fresh cream. Another standout is their light‑as‑air Grand Marnier soufflé, served with a dark chocolate sauce that will leave you wanting more.

 Krish
9 Rochester Park, 6779‑4644. Open Mon‑Fri noon‑3pm; Mon‑Sat 6‑10:30pm (bar opens till 1am); Sun 11am‑3pm

Set in the lush Rochester Park, Krish is a much-needed sanctuary from the city.
We thoroughly enjoy the warm and inviting atmosphere here, enhanced by delightful desserts such as the blackcurrant parfait with a cardamom‑coconut ice cream and dark chocolate sable "soil," and chai masala crème brulee. Or opt for a black pepper and strawberry sorbet and toasted naan ice cream. And thanks to double threat chef sommelier Matthew Baker, there's also an illustrious wine list.
