*Runway: Versace

Versace Women's Spring/Summer 2010 Runway MFW

A little “Alice in Wonderland” and a whole lot of classic Versace.
Donatella used vivid pastels, geometric prints, baroque curlicues, short-short skirts, and slinky, sexy chain mail for this Spring. She found her inspiration in the Alice in Wonderland movie from Tim Burton which comes out this Fall.
(When I was in Paris a week ago `Au Printemps` had a full `etalage` of Alice in Wonderland inspired pieces from designers).
Translating a visual wonderland theme without losing sensuality in the pieces can be triggy and overdone, but she maintains to keep it elegant without turning a touch vulgar. Especially the chain mail and other metallic details kept the collection edgy and daring. I used to be not a big fan of her previous collections, but this Spring collection was truly one of her strongest and more assured productions ever!
***What do you think of the Spring collection?***
