Are Kpop singers really singers?

On July 20th’s airing of MBC News Desk, a whole segment was dedicated on analyzing the true talent of these so-called “singers,” and the results were truly shocking to everyone.

The program first put out the girl-group After School as their main example. They reported, “In song Bang, we measured the length of each part for every member. Kahi sang for 18s, Raina sang for 13s, JungAh sang for 6, and Jooyeon sang for only 3s, which was the least in the whole group.”

MBC News Desk also analyzed boy-groups like MBLAQ and Infinite.

They revealed, “Although each member in the group sings much more than After School, Mir only sings for 15s, while G.O. sings for 32. For new group Infinite, not a single member sings more than 4s. Calling them singers would not be appropriate.”

After looking at the report yesterday, I must say that I'm a little shocked. I know that most of them get very little time to sing but never did I guess that it will be so little.

The paucity amount of time allocated to each singer is just preposterous. I mean you get more time to sing as your group gets smaller right?

That's really sad because most of the groups are increasing their number of members.

I guess that's flagrantly a strategy to boost their popularity.

Its sort of creating a synergy.

For instance, you might like Member 1 only in the group. But by adding in more members, you might come to like Member 1,6,9.

By liking 3 members now, you have a higher propensity to follow the group in whatever they do so long as one of the 3 favourite members of yours are in it.
